Churches are generally smaller than cathedrals and are usually designed to serve a local congregation. They are traditionally used for regular services, weddings, baptisms, and funerals.

Cathedrals are much larger than churches and are usually the seat of a Bishop or Archbishop. They are often seen as places of worship for a wider area, and may be used for special services such as ordinations, confirmations, or coronations. Cathedrals are also often seen as grand architectural monuments.
